Job Description:

This is a temporary contract position, with the potential to transition to full-time/permanent contract position

Summary Description Of Position

Operates the duplicating machines for the engineering drawing copier and high speed/volume reproduction copier ensuring that paper, toner and other supplies are available to process print jobs; diagnoses and corrects minor equipment malfunctions, reviews error messages and makes corrections during operation or refers problems to the appropriate Government personnel; maintains operating records and initiates and coordinates maintenance service call-outs.

Major Responsibility Areas And Duties

  • Follows instructions for routine tasks that require special attention to details.
  • Performs routine cataloging and filing of library material such as drawings, construction specifications, aperture cards and equipment manuals.
  • Manages documents for the different engineering files, utilizing WAPA’s DIS for drawing number and revision level requests, and maintains DIS query reports.
  • Assists in the maintenance and use of different catalogs and performs research and cross-referencing for archiving, locating, and retrieving files.
  • Reserves drawings in DIS thru HQ for any drawings that the CAD group or Engineers might need reserved.
  • Checks the status of drawings in DIS to see if anyone else has the next rev reserved.
  • Inventories local file server to see if drawings library is up to date compared to DIS. Alerts management if things are missing and locates the archived version of the drawings from HQ.
  • Reviews emails pertaining to the needs of other departments for any reproduction needs.
  • Coordinates with HQ and engineers to alert them if there is an issue reserving any particular drawings.
  • Prints any of the specs that the construction department has requested.
  • Print the drawings index files and also the SYD diagrams for the 70+ substations that the team distributes to.
  • Plots special maps for various departments upon their request. Plots all drawings for distribution to the substation and area files.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Requirements And Qualification

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with electrical drawings and diagrams and the use of such drawings.
  • Must have at least six (6) years of experience with and use of high-speed copiers and CAD prints.
  • Must have knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, DC circuits, AC theory and power system equipment and its operation.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and basic principles of database administration
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have experience managing service provider/client relationships
  • Must have demonstrated ability to identify, research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies and data errors; understand and communicate impact to others.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and prioritize work - must be highly organized and have strong to detail.
  • Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to follow through and monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Must be a self-starter - able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management.
