The GIS Analyst position with Erica Lane Enterprises is a DoD
Contracted position in support of the 88th Readiness Division of the
United States Army Reserve. The position requires regular use of Esri
software to perform basic data maintenance and analysis tasks, as well
as regular coordination with other DoD offices to ensure data
standardization obligations are being met by the data and the team
members. The GIS team, and the data they produce, are the insight
engine for the primary mission of the supported organization.
The supported organization manages 270+ sites comprised of 800+
buildings across 19 states. All the data related to these sites and
buildings, their supporting infrastructure, their capacity and
capabilities, and tenancy of the buildings is all maintained and
supported in some way by the GIS Team.
The GIS Analyst must be capable of performing spatial data analysis
and presenting results in a variety of formats (maps, tables, written
reports) to detail findings to supported organization. Analyst must
also have strong understanding of data management and standard QA/QC processes.
Duties:
- QA/QC GIS Data, and maintain existing datasets to the
specification of specific organizations and schema rules
- Troubleshooting and identify solutions and sources of errors in
the data and establish best practices for continued GIS data
maintenance in coordination with the GIS Team members and other
organization partners
- Perform field collection of GIS Data to update/validate changes
using Trimble or similar units
- Convert CAD Data for use in GIS Software
- Perform spatial analysis using GIS software
- Identify and execute methods to automate routine GIS tasks
- Continue to seek and implement ways to improve both individual and
team level GIS capabilities
- Update existing organizational maps, and implement efficient map
maintenance workflows
- Coordinate with multiple departments within the supported
organization to help them leverage GIS in order to meet their
mission objectives
- Engage with senior leadership figures to discuss and assess GIS
systems and data, team capabilities, the limitations of those, and
providing the best available solutions to complex problems requiring
GIS support
- Assist Program Manager is identifying key areas where GIS Team
capabilities could be improved or streamlined
- Normal Travel Requirement is 2-5 trips per year spanning only
Mon-Fri during primary construction season, and often minimal during
the winter months. Travel is self-scheduled and flexible to personal
needs, and usually lasts 2-5 days per trip. It is fully reimbursed,
with additional per diem pay.
