Job Description:

The DDC-HVAC Specialist position with Gryphon Environmental/Erica Lane Enterprises is a DoD Contracted position in support of the 88th Readiness Division of the United States Army Reserve. The supported organization manages 270+ sites comprised of 800+ buildings across 19 states. The position is located at Fort McCoy, WI.

The DDC-HVAC Specialist monitors, operates, and maintains building automation systems and equipment controls, reports alarms and observed abnormalities to all appropriate staff, and facilitates corrective actions with the cooperation and support of other management/maintenance staff. The DDC-HVAC Specialist performs or assists with commissioning activities for larger HVAC or construction projects and provides technical support for smaller HVAC repairs or replacement projects

Essential Functions

  • Provide support to Enterprise Building Control System (EBCS), which integrates Army Reserve facilities to a common server.
  • Provide support to the EBCS Integration sub-contractors.
  • Review various steps of the EBCS DDC integration process from hardware installation to final product on the EBCS server.
  • Configure Integration Controller (JACE) into the EBCS server.
  • Configure and maintain email HVAC alarming from the EBCS server to the appropriate personnel when system failures occur.
  • Respond to email alarms generated from the DDC system or direct calls/emails that the HVAC system is not working properly.
  • Maintain DDC inventory of hardware information, access codes, IP address etc. for each facility.
  • Configure the special events calendar in the DDC schedule to provide HVAC on weekends.
  • Review all DDC systems and evaluate data using analytics tools to ensure programs and devices are operating correctly.
  • Review HVAC proposals from contractors and provide comments and recommendations.
  • Provide input to, and/or develop Scopes of Work (SOWs) for HVAC repair or replacement projects, controls repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and full replacement.
  • Work remotely and in person with other contractors dispatched to resolve mechanical issues.
  • Make site visits to facilities to investigate ongoing/complex HVAC/Controls issues to determine the cause of the problem and make recommendations.
  • Assist the facility management personnel with HVAC questions, concerns, boiler/chiller resets etc.
  • Maintain daily and monthly reports.

Experience and Skills:

  • BS Degree/Technical Degree.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in DDC-HVAC related field. Entry-level candidates (2-4 yrs of experience) will be considered after primary candidates.
  • Self-starters who are able to multi-task.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Confidence, willingness, and ability to conduct presentations and provide training sessions to groups of people.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, and willing and able to learn new software systems specific to the USAR.
  • Niagara N4 Certification.
  • Experience working with the federal government or military are a plus.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Department of Army background investigation.
  • Must pass drug screening.
  • Must have access to a reliable automobile.
  • Must be willing to travel. Travel constitutes approximately 25% of the job, primarily within the assigned region, but also includes some travel outside of the assigned region.
